Tiina Rekand

My name is Tiina Rekand. I have experience in various areas: journalism, communication, event management, nature and hiking, project management, voluntary work, social campaigns, online communication, IT development, e-service design. I believe that my special skill is to tell stories, connect people and be active in society. With organising cycling events, I offer experience, knowledge and connect like-minded people.

What are your plans as Bicycle Mayor?

During my term as Bicycle Mayor, I will champion the belief that cycling is the most joyful, healthy, and efficient way to commute and experience Tallinn. My main priority is to transform our streets into safe, welcoming spaces that invite more children, families, and women to embrace cycling as a natural choice for daily travel and recreation. To achieve this, I will expand family-focused community rides and specialized cycling events for women designed to build confidence, foster community connection, and lower barriers to entry. By accelerating the growth of a fully connected network of separated bike lanes, we can give parents peace of mind and create a vibrant, multi-generational cycling culture. Through these targeted grassroots initiatives and safer infrastructure, I plan to ensure that riders of all ages and backgrounds feel empowered, confident, and excited to travel on two wheels.
