Kety Piras is a Sardinian cultural entrepreneur, communicator, and cycling advocate based in Cagliari, Italy. She is the founder of Cycle Hub, an innovative urban workshop and community space that combines bicycle repair, education, and cultural events dedicated to sustainable mobility. Over the past five years, Kety has developed a multidisciplinary platform that combines bicycles with creativity, activism, and local identity. Through Cycle Hub, she has developed initiatives that connect citizens, institutions, and artists around the idea of human-centred mobility. Her projects often blend urban cycling, art, and social inclusion, transforming the act of pedalling into a language of freedom, care, and empowerment.
As president of Donne in bici e micromobilità, Kety promotes women’s leadership in mobility and urban transformation. She organises group rides, educational workshops, and awareness campaigns that encourage women and young people to reclaim the public space with confidence and joy. Kety is also the creator of “Città a Pedali” and “Eja pedala, Kety passa“ on Sound Wave Radio, a podcast and newsletter that explores stories, ideas, and people shaping a more sustainable and imaginative future for cities. Her approach combines storytelling, design thinking, and social innovation, bridging the gap between culture, community, and policy.
What are Kety’s plans as Bicycle Mayor?
As Bicycle Mayor of Cagliari, Kety’s mission is to make cycling an everyday reality for everyone, focusing on safety, inclusivity, and gender equality. She envisions Cagliari as a city where cycling is not just a mode of transportation, but a shared cultural value, a way of living and connecting that reflects the island’s spirit of resilience and beauty.
