Jeffrey Jossepy Leandro Diaz

Passionate activist for sustainable mobility based in Lima, Peru. As the co-founder and leader of Red por la Convivencia Vial, he brings together more than 45 cycling and environmental organizations to promote safer, more inclusive urban mobility. Through his community-driven approach, Jeffrey has led numerous campaigns, infrastructure projects, and advocacy efforts aimed at making Lima a more bike-friendly city. His leadership, empathy, and dedication to the well-being of cyclists have positioned him as a key figure in advancing cycling as a sustainable and equitable mode of transportation in Latin America.

What is his mission?

To reduce road accidents and promote the safe and inclusive use of bicycles in Lima. Jeffrey envisions a city where interconnected and secure bike lanes, adequate parking infrastructure, and public awareness campaigns support a growing community of cyclists from all backgrounds—especially children, workers, and low-income populations.
Through initiatives like Pedalea Seguro, Jeffrey not only works on physical improvements to infrastructure but also fosters civic engagement and education around road safety. His goals include increasing the number of cyclists in Lima by 8% over two years, installing at least 50 bike parking facilities within a year, and reducing cyclist-related road accidents by 15%. He actively collaborates with municipalities, environmental organizations, and local communities, ensuring that underrepresented voices are included in planning and decision-making processes.

As Bicycle Mayor, Jeffrey aims to learn from global best practices and apply them locally to build safer, more equitable cities. With a strong commitment to justice, accessibility, and environmental responsibility, he continues to work toward transforming Lima into a city where cycling is not just a mode of transport—but a tool for empowerment and change.
