Jaspreet Pal

Mountain cyclist and professional photographer, I have cycled more than 33,000 kilometres in the mountains, gained more than 750,000 metres of elevation, and covered around 85% of Himachal Pradesh by bicycle.

In 2024, the Election Commission of India appointed me as the State Election Icon for Himachal Pradesh, using cycling as a medium for voter awareness and community outreach. Through my cycling journey, I have worked with schools, colleges, universities and communities, encouraging young people towards cycling, physical activity, health and an active lifestyle.

How would you describe your mission?

As Bicycle Mayor, I want to use the bicycle as a tool for community connection, rather than just as a sport. I will work with schools, young people and communities, especially in rural and mountain areas, to encourage cycling, outdoor activity, everyday mobility and healthier lifestyles. I also hope to create more opportunities for people who may have limited access to cycling and to connect cycling with clean, green and healthy communities. I aim to build partnerships with local institutions, communities and other stakeholders and gradually create a stronger culture of everyday cycling.
