Born in Montreal with Canadian and Cuban origins, Gabriel’s journey has brought him to Europe to deepen his knowledge of urban mobility. Initially, having completed a bachelor’s in urban planning in Montreal, he realised that one of North America’s biggest challenges was its dependence on cars. Wanting to help society transition towards a more sustainable way of life, he decided to start a master’s in urban mobility that would take him to Barcelona and Eindhoven. Furthermore, Gabriel believes that the solutions to mobility challenges are known, but the real bottleneck comes from social behavior and implementation.
Even though he was raised in Canadian suburbs, cycling has always been a part of Gabriel’s life. He enjoys doing long-distance road cycling, but his dream is to live in a city where he can bike for functional reasons, and not only for fun!
About to accomplish his master’s, Gabriel is joining BYCS as a research intern. He will bring his skills of analysis and knowledge of the domain to help BYCS articulate data-driven insights and benefits for their projects.
