My Name is Vikas Goyal, a 50 year old resident from Punjab, India. I am a cycling enthusiast and a study consultant for higher education abroad. I am passionate about cycling and have been associated with Faridkot cycling group (FCG). I participated in long distance rides of 100 km, 200 km, 300 km, 400 km and 600 km. I got inspired from Asia’s best cyclist Dr. Amit Samarth who is really an encyclopedia of Strength, Nutrition, Cycling and Running. I love what cycling brings to people and the community it helps to grow.
What are your plans as Bicycle Mayor?
During my term I plan to focus on two major barriers to cycling -infrastructure and safety. My main objective is to make Faridkot city as a cycling capital of our state by ensuring safety with the help of local administration. I will also work on increasing bicycle ridership by creating awareness about cycling through small promotional rides on special occasions and ensure participation of all the social clubs of the city. I will even try to create provisions for bicycle parking with the help of local administration and police.
