I’m Rase Rajan and I have 17 years of experience in media, but cycling has also been an important part of my life . For the last seven years, I have been cycling for everything from my daily commute to long-distance travel (1,000 km – 5,000 km). Although many cycling trips have been made, I consider it my greatest gift to have traveled 40,000 km across India from October 2017 to March 2020. During this trip, I have visited about 5 schools, colleges, and government offices and talked about the importance of using bicycles and its benefits. After the trip, I started a club “3D Pedals Cycling Academy “with the help of friends and tried to increase the use of bicycles in the city. Right now we are conducting “ service camps’ and “ workshops” for beginner cyclists.
How would you describe your mission?
There are three main focus areas for my term as bicycle mayor:
- Project Commuting: Getting government officials and school children on bicycles for their commutes.
- Area Wise cycling Clubs: We want to develop area wise cycling clubs in our city
- Awareness rallies: We will organize rallies to raise awareness of cycling in our city and promote it as a mode of transport
