Gabriele Fröhlich

I am a dedicated cycling advocate from Mannheim and an enthusiastic cyclist for over 60 years. After completing my professional career two years ago, I stepped into the role of volunteer bicycle commissioner for the city. Acting as a bridge between local cyclists and the city administration, I collaborate closely with cycling initiatives like ADFC and Kidical Mass. I have spearheaded campaigns to improve awareness of cycling rules and I am particularly engaged in promoting road safety, especially for children and vulnerable groups. With a positive and approachable attitude, I thrive on community engagement and I bring people together to find shared solutions.

How would you describe your mission?

My mission is to make cycling in Mannheim safer and more inclusive. I focus on improving infrastructure and awareness, especially for children and migrant women who may face barriers to cycling. I want to address critical points in the city’s cycling network, reduce dangerous situations like cars parked on bike lanes, and develop educational campaigns to promote safe behavior. By working closely with traffic planners, integration officers, and cycling associations, I aim to create a city where everyone — from kids to seniors — can ride confidently and safely.
