Francesco Zamiri

Francesco is the Bicycle Mayor Network Intern at BYCS, focusing on the process of onboarding new Bicycle Mayors, communicating with them, and reporting on the status of their activism.

Francesco has grown up cycling, both in his native city of Turin, Italy and on cycle-tourism holidays with his family. Over time, he developed a keen interest in cycling as a better tool to move around cities and improve living standards.

During his bachelor’s degree in international studies, he spent a semester at Erasmus in Madrid and focused on gender studies and sociology. Through this period, he has become passionate about international cooperation and grassroots social movements.

He is currently studying a master’s degree in European Politics and Society, which involves moving cities almost every semester. This has given him the chance to get to know many people from different regions and cultural backgrounds, and establish connections across cultural differences. He has experienced mobility in a variety of contexts, and seen how social factors contribute to the ways people move around and think about their cities.

Therefore, he is excited to share his passion by supporting the Bicycle Mayor Network and strengthening human infrastructure for cycling.
