Prashant Tanna

My name is Prashant Tanna. I am a paediatric doctor by profession, an avid reader and organic farmer by hobby, a blogger by choice & a cyclist by passion. I’m very respectful towards nature, adventure and cultural traditions. Seeking life beyond happiness for the sense of belonging, purpose & meaning. Happy to help too!

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MISSION?

Let’s do the “IN” thing – cyclINg. Exposure to nature has been shown to reduce stress and cut down on the risk of depression. Hence, perhaps only cycling will continue to survive for longer than we imagine because of its proven ability to EVOLVE and ADAPT to CHANGing times and lifestyles as futuristic mobility solutions. The bicycle is a sustainable, eco-friendly and affordable means of transport and presently requires a national-level intervention for its successful promotion. We are committed to initiating awareness in highlighting the various benefits of cycling. It’s about creating the awareness about taking care of your own body. The focus of promoting cycling is to highlight the economic, social, health (physical & mental) and environmental benefits. Bicycle is a social & mental tool to connect economy & ecology. Get the cycle back into the ‘lifecycle’.

WHAT ARE THE OBSTACLES AND CHALLENGES YOU’RE FACING IN YOUR CITY?

Traffic congestion & air pollution are the leading causes for early lifestyle disease, debilitation of immune system along with contributing to a sedentary lifestyle. We strongly need to change the perception of the bicycle as the poor person’s mode of mobility and an unsafe mode of transport.

WHAT ARE YOUR NEXT STEPS NOW THAT YOU ARE THE BICYCLE MAYOR?

UpCycle the bicycle. Make a statement about cycling as an upmarket lifestyle. Promotion of cycling as an activity of leisure, daily commute & endurance to cater to various groups of society. Cycling as an economic, safe & healthy activity offline for better mental health & interpersonal communication while commuting. To convey people that: your most valuable asset is you: Effort – Priorities how to maximize your return. Invest in yourself with health-enhancing equipment ‘Cycle’ (rather than spending on mere physical parameter monitoring devices). Join the movement!

WHAT LESSON CAN YOUR CITY TEACH OTHERS?

Small cities are blessings. “One Inspires One”. People on a bicycle are easily notable for others to inspire. Interconnected small social & professional communities can communicate good deeds with others.
